The Pleiades Star Cluster M45
Tri-color on Technical Pan film - 8" f/4.5 Newtonian telescope
The Pleiades open star cluster is the well known "Seven Sisters" of ancient mythology. It is a relatively young group, about 50 million years old, and blue halos of reflection nebulae still surround the stars. Notice the unusual "wind-blown" appearance of this nebulosity.
Alcyone, the cluster's brightest star, is nearly 1000 times brighter than our Sun.
