The Cliff Palace is the largest of the cave dwellings in Mesa Verde National Park. The park protects some of the best-preserved Ancestral Puebloan archaeological sites in the United States. There are 126 rooms in total. It was probably the center of the community in its time. Mesa Verde National Park is a wonderful place to spend a few days exploring and imagining what life was like for the ancestral cliff dwellers (Anasazi) from 800 to 1000 years ago.
It is in Colorado very near the Utah border and just a couple of hours away from Arches and Canyonlands National Parks. What a great and very unique experience.
