Bow Lake and Bow Glacier are right off the Icefields Parkway. You can drive in to a parking lot and hike up to the glacier if you want or just view this amazing scene from several places.
One of the most striking things about lakes that get their water from ancient glaciers is the color of the water. This turquoise color comes from the glacier pulverizing rock into a fine powder as it creeps over it. This powder is sent down stream to the lakes where it gets suspended in the water and we see this color.
This panorama photo was made using 4 separate vertical exposures that we "stitched" together side by side to get a very high resolution final image.
