"The Orion Nebula"
This beautiful diffuse nebula is an enormous cloud of hydrogen gas. In its bright core, new stars are in the process of forming out of this gas. It is 30 light years across, which is more than 20,000 times the diameter of our solar system.
On a dark night, away from city lights, The Orion Nebula is large enough to be seen as a "fuzzy" star without the aid of a telescope. With binoculars some structural detail can be seen. Through even a small telescope, it is a wonder to behold!
